The Supreme Court has officially overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion for millions of women and paving the way for a “likely” abortion ban in Indiana and for House Republicans to try to pass a nationwide ban on abortion. It’s a future that Jennifer-Ruth Green has long worked toward by supporting overturning Roe – and now she will have to own up to her extreme, deeply unpopular positions.
Green is “unashamedly and unapologetically” “100% pro-life” and has doubled down by touting her support from far-right anti-choice groups including Indiana Right to Life and Susan B. Anthony List.
Green’s “100%” support for banning abortions means Hoosiers could lose the freedom to make their own health care decisions even in cases of rape, incest, and when the life of the mother is at risk – a position a “large majority of Hoosiers oppose.” It could mean making abortion a crime including putting women and doctors in jail.
Make no mistake: Green is completely out of step with Hoosiers. She will be held accountable for her party’s role in decimating women’s reproductive freedoms and their plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban – undoing the will of Indiana voters.
DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn:
“The stakes in this election could not be higher: Jennifer-Ruth Green has cheered as the Supreme Court rips away Hoosiers’ constitutional rights. She couldn’t be more out of step with Indiana voters – and we will remind Hoosiers of her extreme support for taking away women’s freedoms to make their own health care decisions every day until November.”
