In a damaging KSDK interview this weekend, IL-13 Republican candidate Jesse Reising was caught “dodging the question” about whether he stands with Washington GOP leaders to support a nationwide ban on abortion as Republicans plot charging women with homicide and imposing a 6-week national ban on abortion if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. Reising also wouldn’t say if he supported exceptions for bans on abortions in cases of rape, incest, or if the mother’s life is at risk.
Here’s one likely reason why Reising danced around telling Illinoisans his position on their freedom to get an abortion: recent national polls find around 70% of Americans oppose overturning Roe v. Wade.
“It’s time for phony Chicago lawyer Jesse Reising to finally be honest with Illinoisans,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Reising must say if he stands with Washington party leaders to support a nationwide ban on abortions.”
