John James Desperately Attempts to Hide His Anti-Abortion Record

Since Michigan voters enshrined abortion rights in the state’s constitution last fall, John James has tried to erase his hardline anti-abortion stances — including his opposition to abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

According to The Detroit News, during his first few months in Congress, the highly vulnerable freshman has had no problem lying to and deceiving voters, as he attempts to walk back his attacks on women’s reproductive rights.

Here is a recap of John James’ extreme anti-abortion agenda:

• James has said that he is “100% Pro-Life. Always have been. Always will be” and even compared abortion to genocide.

• James supported overturning Roe v. Wade and promised to “not stop fighting until we end abortion.”

• James opposed abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

• James voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would codify the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed.

• James also voted to pass anti-choice legislation that could imprison doctors and is “chock-full of misinformation and creates more barriers to care.”

“John James knows his extreme anti-choice agenda is wildly unpopular with the vast majority of Michiganders, but he is kidding himself if he thinks he can run away from his record. Voters have a clear understanding of where he stands and reject his radical war on women’s freedoms.”
