John James Remains Silent As Tuberville Attacks Service Members And Military Families

Since February, Tommy Tuberville has held up hundreds of Defense Department promotions and nominations, actively undermining our military readiness and national security. Tuberville has promised that he won’t relent unless the DoD changes its policy that provides support for service members who need to go out of state for abortion access.

Despite Republican leadership and political veterans on both sides of the aisle denouncing his antics, Michigan Republican John James has remained silent — failing to condemn Tuberville’s attacks on service members and military families. 

Like Tuberville, James’ war on women’s rights has impacted military readiness. In addition to saying he “will not stop fighting until we end abortion,” comparing it to “genocide,” and going so far as as to oppose exceptions for rape or incest, James hijacked the historically bipartisan NDAA to force through Republicans’ anti-abortion agenda.

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson: 
“It’s despicable that Tommy Tuberville and John James are attacking the same freedoms that service members lay their life on the line to protect. James’ failure to condemn Tuberville is yet another example of him putting politics and his anti-abortion extremism before our troops.”
