John James Votes To Restrict Abortion Access At The Federal Level

With only two days left before a MAGA manufactured shutdown, John James ignored calls to keep the government running and instead pushed a dangerous bill last night that attacked women’s reproductive freedom.

In July, James claimed “Now that people in Michigan have made their decision, it is my job as the representative to represent my district.” Yesterday he reneged on that promise, and voted to restrict the safe, legal abortion medication mifepristone. 

Since Michigan voters enshrined abortion rights in the state’s constitution last fall, James has tried to erase his hardline anti-abortion stances, saying it should be left up to the states. The vulnerable freshman has even tried to walk back his opposition to abortions in cases of rape and incest.

REMINDER: Recently, the chair of the GOP Conference reiterated the Republican plot to enact a nationwide abortion ban – asserting Republicans “will get [it] done.”

Instead of working in a bipartisan way to invest in America and avert a devastating shutdown, James decided to pursue his extreme MAGA agenda to restrict access to reproductive care nationwide.
