Two years ago, every single House Republican voted against the Inflation Reduction Act and the expansion of the ACA subsidies that kept health care costs down.
If John James and House Republicans had their way, they would let these subsidies expire and raise health care costs on roughly 20 million Americans – including roughly 38,000 people in Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.
Without the ACA subsidies, enrollees in Eastern Michigan will pay roughly $720 more for health care, and approximately 3.4 million people would lose their health insurance nationwide.
James and House Republicans have proposed numerous measures to raise health care costs, including raising the price of prescription drugs for 3.3 million people and privatizing Medicare.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“John James has not only failed to lower health care costs for Michiganders, but threatens to raise costs even further. Voters can see that James and House Republicans refuse to lift a finger to help them on pocketbook issues, and know they can never be trusted to deliver much-needed relief for Michiganders.”
