Katko votes against uncovering the truth about January’s fatal attack on the Capitol
After failing to get his party to investigate the deadly January 6 insurrection, John Katko has decided to throw in the towel on investigating the truth behind how a violent mob overran the U.S. Capitol.
Today, Katko had the opportunity to stand up and support a bipartisan investigation into this egregious attack on our democracy. Instead, he made a choice to give into Donald Trump and the extremists in his party, helping to cover up what happened on that deadly day.
Voters in NY-24 deserve a representative who will fight for our country’s democratic values at every turn, not give in to extremists, which is exactly what Katko did today.
“John Katko’s vote against the bipartisan January 6th commission is a total concession to those Republicans who don’t want to investigate a violent mob that put the lives of members, staff, Capitol Police, and the Vice President in grave danger,” said DCCC Spokesperson Abel Iraola. “You either care about democracy or you don’t. John Katko, in total deference to Donald Trump, chose partisan politics over the truth, and voters in NY-24 deserve better.”
