Did John Katko Meet with Team Trump (Again)?

Reminder: Katko said Trump’s VP choice could help win his support

Did John Katko meet with Team Trump yesterday in Washington?

Trump’s VP pick, Mike Pence, made a stop on Capitol Hill and met with over 200 House Republicans to talk about how they can march in lockstep with Trump this fall. Pence also noted that Trump’s agenda is in step with the House GOP.

Katko’s attendance at this meeting raises worthy questions about his level of support for Trump.

In July, Katko said that “Trump’s VP choice could help win his support.” Katko even added that he “holds out hope that Trump’s brash style will be brought into check by a vice presidential running mate who will focus on substance rather than rhetoric.”

Either way, the meeting is just the next chapter in Katko’s failed attempts to cover up his support for Trump.

In early July, Katko met with Donald Trump in Washington to talk about a shared agenda. Earlier this Spring, Katko said “I’m going to back whoever the Republican nominee is, and whoever it is.”

“Central New York voters deserve to know if their Congressman, John Katko, met with Team Trump in Washington to talk about how he can support Trump this fall,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Far from standing up to Trump’s reckless agenda, Congressman John Katko has been all too happy to enable his racist, xenophobic, misogynist, dangerous vision of America.”
