John McGuire Is More Vulnerable Than Ever

The results also serve as a blistering rebuke of Congressman John McGuire and House Republicans’ cost-spiking, health care slashing record. 

One thing that’s clear from the results: McGuire has never been more vulnerable.

“Congressman John McGuire arrived in Washington and immediately got to work screwing over Virginians by voting for higher health care costs and deep cuts to care, all while giving massive tax breaks to billionaires. Virginia voters will hold him accountable at the ballot box and make sure he is a one-term member of Congress.” 

• McGuire has unleashed devastating cuts and higher health care cuts on Virginians. One of McGuire’s early votes in Congress was for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. McGuire’s vote is the reason why three health clinics in Virginia have already closed their doors, and it’s the reason why health care premiums are skyrocketing.
• McGuire is an anti-abortion extremist. McGuire called abortion “American Genocide,” has stated “he believes life begins at conception,” and co-sponsored a bill that would ban all abortion nationwide with no exceptions for rape, incest, or to save the life of the woman.
• McGuire has defended reckless tariffs that have raised prices for Virginians. McGuire “expressed his support for the Trump administration’s tariffs” that have cost American families more than $1,700 in the past year.
• McGuire supported devastating DOGE cuts even as they uprooted Virginia’s economy and hurt our veterans. McGuire was even “part of the DOGE caucus” and claimed to have “lots of inside information on what was going on.”
