| Today, the DCCC announced that Jonathan Nez has been added to the first round of the committee’s highly competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, signaling that the DCCC is invested in providing Nez, a top-tier candidate, with the support needed to continue building a winning campaign as he runs for AZ-02, a district that’s home to 14 of Arizona’s 22 federally recognized tribes.
“Jonathan Nez is a bipartisan leader with a track record of putting politics aside to deliver for Northern Arizona. Jonathan will work with anyone – Democrat, Republican, or Independent – to get things done for his community. Unlike Eli Crane, Jonathan has spent his career delivering results for rural Arizona, like new health care facilities, homes for veterans, and investments in public safety and law enforcement. Former Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez was born and raised in Northern Arizona and has spent his life putting people before politics. Growing up on his family’s ranch without running water or electricity, Jonathan learned the values of hard work, responsibility, and community. He brought those lessons with him as President of the Navajo Nation, where he worked with his Republican Vice President to get things done for rural Arizona. Jonathan is running for Congress to give rural Arizonans a real seat at the table, cut through the noise, and deliver real results — not play party politics.
The Democratic nominee in AZ-02 in 2024, Nez overperformed statewide Democratic candidates – at the same time Republican Eli Crane significantly underperformed the top of the ticket.
