Juan Ciscomani Attacks Social Security and Abortion Rights

Today, Juan Ciscomani voted to advance House Republicans’ extreme funding bill to the House floor that would harm women, families, and seniors.

Ciscomani and his colleagues passed new nationwide restrictions on reproductive health care, including cutting more than $150 million from maternal health services and limiting contraception access and cancer screenings for 2.6 million low-income Americans.

With this bill, Ciscomani is also attempting to gut abortion care protections for women in need of emergency, life-saving care – the same protections that were just challenged in the Supreme Court, continuing House Republicans’ march to ban abortion care nationwide.

Additionally, Ciscomani’s bill would cut access to seniors’ hard-earned benefits, slashing more than $450 million in funding for the Social Security Administration, which would close field offices, extend wait times, and delay disability claims nationwide.

Juan Ciscomani’s vote is an attack on women, seniors, and families across the country.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“Juan Ciscomani is so desperate to ban abortion nationwide, he is willing to deny life-saving medical care to women who need it and make it harder for people to access critical Social Security benefits. His support for this bill is an attack on women and seniors, and it will cost Ciscomani at the ballot box in November.”
