House Republicans vote to raise home energy bills for roughly 54,000 low-income homes
Today, Juan Ciscomani voted for a partisan funding bill that would eliminate good-paying jobs and raise costs for families across the country.
His extreme funding bill, passed out of committee today, eliminates $8 billion in funding for energy programs that have supported more than 47,000 jobs nationwide. These cuts to the Department of Energy (DOE) would additionally hurt local economies and energy resilience by stripping away at least $90 billion in investments.
Ciscomani’s legislation would also raise home energy costs for roughly 54,000 low-income homes who currently rely on an average $372 or more in savings every year from the DOE’s Weatherization Assistance Program. This program also supports 8,500 jobs, all of which would be threatened by the cuts.
Ciscomani is pushing another extreme funding bill at the expense of families and communities struggling with high costs.
