House Republicans vote to gut housing and transit support for families in need of relief from high costs
As families nationwide continue to grapple with high costs, Juan Ciscomani wants to make it more difficult for families to get to work and afford housing.
Yesterday, Ciscomani voted for the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill in committee, supporting a 60% cut to the sole federal program dedicated to new affordable housing construction. His bill also cuts nearly $600 million from public housing – potentially forcing tens of thousands of evictions – and totally eliminates targeted funding support for the roughly 700,000 families in public housing at risk of exposure to lead-based paint.
Ciscomani additionally voted to slash the Amtrak funding that so many Arizonans rely on, hurting our economy and raising costs on working families.
DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“Juan Ciscomani is so out of touch with his community, he is actively supporting cuts that would hurt Arizonan pocketbooks. Ciscomani would rather abandon families facing eviction and increasing housing costs than stand up to the far-right, MAGA spending bills his party bosses are pushing.”
