Juan Ciscomani’s Hypocrisy On Full Display In Cowardly (2nd) Vote For Largest Medicaid Cut in History

Ciscomani just TWO months ago: “I cannot, and will not, support any legislation that reduces Medicaid benefits for vulnerable populations.”

After months of empty promises and political posturing, Juan Ciscomani (to no one’s surprise) just voted AGAIN to obliterate access to health care, raise costs, cut jobs, threaten local hospitals, and devastate the state health care system — all to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.

Ciscomani has been lying to his constituents about his intentions for months: first repeatedly promising he wouldn’t support any legislation that included Medicaid cuts, then falsely claiming the tax scam would protect Medicaid, and finally sending a letter to the Senate opposing steeper Medicaid cuts.

In the end, Ciscomani folded and voted to enact the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.

More than 342,000 Arizonans could lose their health care under Ciscomani’s plan, including 32,000 of his own constituents.

Patients across the state – regardless of insurance – would see a sharp decrease in access to health care. The Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association predicts hospitals in the state will lose $6 billion over the next seven years if the Big, Ugly Bill becomes law – which will force hospitals to restrict services or shutter their doors altogether.

DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Juan Ciscomani is a spineless liar who will say anything to get elected and do anything to stay in power. Cowardice has consequences — and come November, Arizonans will vote him out.”
