This week, Kansans turned out in record numbers to protect a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, sending a clear message to Republicans working to institute abortion bans: We will vote you down.
This spells bad news for Nevada Republicans, as their party plots to institute a nationwide abortion ban and Mark Robertson, April Becker, and Sam Peters are forced to defend their dangerous positions in a state that overwhelming supports a woman’s right to choose.
Here is a list of some of the GOP candidates extreme abortion stances:
-
Mark Robertson praised Texas’ six-week abortion ban with no exceptions for rape and incest that puts a bounty on anyone who helps a woman get an abortion, and is endorsed by National Right to Life, which wants to ban abortion without exceptions for rape or incest;
-
April Becker is backed by the extremist anti-abortion group National Right to Life, which wants to ban abortion without exceptions for rape or incest;
-
Sam Peters has pledged that if he gets to Congress, he will introduce legislation that allows the government to force a woman to continue her pregnancy if she has been raped, and could send her doctor to prison if she receives an abortion.
DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw:
“Nevada Republicans can no longer dodge or deflect by claiming voters aren’t motivated by Republicans’ plans to restrict abortion. Mark Robertson, April Becker, and Sam Peters will have to reckon with their own dangerous anti-choice positions when Nevadans reject them in November. “
