Last night, Kansans turned out in record droves to protect a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions and sent a clear message to Republicans working to impose abortion bans: we will vote you down.
This spells bad news for House Republican candidates as the GOP plots to institute a nationwide abortion ban.
Here is a reminder of some of the extreme stances House Republicans have when it comes to abortion:
-
Over 200 House Republicans voted against codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law. Twice.
-
205 House Republicans voted against protecting a person’s right to travel to access an abortion.
-
195 House Republicans voted against protecting access to contraception.
-
184 House Republicans signed onto an amicus brief asking SCOTUS to overturn Roe.
-
At least 38 NRCC-endorsed challengers supported overturning Roe.
-
At least four vulnerable House Republicans and three NRCC-endorsed challengers support jailing doctors who perform abortions
-
At least 10 vulnerable House Republicans and 18 NRCC-backed challengers support banning abortions without exceptions for rape or incest.
-
Dozens of GOP candidates in swing districts are on the record taking extreme positions and represent some of the biggest threats to reproductive freedom.
