Handel on Monday: “[Gov. Kemp’s] plan prioritizes the health of Georgians while recognizing the need to get people back to work and restart our economy.”
Trump tonight: “Too soon.” “Would I do that? No. I want to protect people’s lives.” “I totally disagree.”
President Trump threw Georgia Governor Brian Kemp under the bus tonight – and career politician Karen Handel was right there with him.
Asked to weigh in on Governor Kemp’s reckless order to re-open businesses like bowling alleys, tattoo parlors and nail salons, President Trump and Anthony Fauci couldn’t have been clearer: it’s a terrible idea.
But earlier this week, Handel praised it.
As Georgians called Gov. Kemp’s order “reckless” and “irresponsible,” Handel declared that “the plan prioritizes the health of Georgians” in a message to her supporters.
“Career politician Karen Handel’s support for an irresponsible coronavirus plan that even President Trump opposes is just the latest example of her radical extremism,” DCCC spokesman Avery Jaffe said. “Between Handel’s praise for Kemp’s reckless plan and her history of voting to strip away Georgians’ health care, it’s clear that one of the best things Georgians can do to protect their health and safety is vote against Karen Handel.”
