GOP establishment darling Karen Handel is getting muscle from the D.C. and Atlanta swamps to force her significant primary opponents out of the race
That was fast.
As former Congresswoman Karen Handel’s campaign began to smolder amid fake fundraising numbers, getting outraised and taunted by a rival Republican opponent and facing an insurgent far-right media star, the Republican establishment pressed the panic button and began to bail out their favorite meal ticket.
Talk about a culling of the field: in the last month, three of Handel’s GOP primary opponents have all just-so-happened to decide to end their bids for the Republican nomination in GA-06.
First, it was State Sen. Brandon Beach, Handel’s establishment tormenter who took to syndicated conservative radio to crow about outraising Handel.
Then followed Nicole Rodden, a fresh new face for the GOP and arguably the original Peloton Girl.
Today, the third and final member of the Karen-Handel-Broken-Hearts-Club finally dropped out of the race in GA-06: Marjorie Taylor Greene. Exit, stage right. Far, far-right.
“Washington Republicans have pressed the panic button, jetting into Georgia’s 6th District to muscle out true conservatives like Brandon Beach and firebrands like Marjorie Taylor Greene in favor of their favorite Washington special interest swamp-dweller: Karen Handel,” DCCC spokesman Avery Jaffe said. “Consistently rejected by voters, Georgia families are exhausted by Handel’s reckless history of voting to jail doctors and strip away health care from Georgia women and that’s why she’ll lose yet again in 2020.”
