What Katko Doesn’t Want You to Know

Vulnerable Republican Touts Record In New Ad, But Conceals His Votes With Trump

Days after new polling showed Dana Balter leading John Katko, the vulnerable Republican is up with a new ad touting his record. John Katko wants you to believe he’s unchanged by Washington, but his votes with Donald Trump, who Katko endorsed earlier this year, tell a different story.

KEY THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT KATKO’S RECORD

  • Katko’s 2017 vote for the Republican tax law gave huge tax cuts to the super rich and massive corporations, including powerful drug manufacturers. Katko voted for the tax bill, knowing that it would add trillions to the national debt and slam central New Yorkers by capping the SALT deduction. Washington Republicans planned to pay for the bill by cutting Social Security, Medicare and other benefits for the most vulnerable.
  • Days ago, Trump admitted that Katko and Washington Republicans designed the tax bill to fully dismantle the Affordable Care Act and rip away protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
  • John Katko voted with Trump and against bipartisan efforts to lower the exploding costs of prescription drugs.

“John Katko wants his constituents to forget his vote against bipartisan efforts to lower the cost of prescription drugs and his vote that threatened to gut Social Security and Medicare in an effort to give tax breaks to his donors,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “When it matters most, John Katko votes with Donald Trump and Washington Republicans. No glossy TV ad will change that fact.”
