Katko Folds, Votes With Tenney to Shrug Off Violent Death Threats Toward Colleague from Extremist AZ Republican

Katko and Tenney must explain to their constituents why they think making death threats is appropriate conduct in Congress

Taking orders from their Washington party bosses, today Reps. John Katko and Claudia Tenney both voted against holding Arizona Republican and white nationalist sympathizer Rep. Paul Gosar accountable for tweeting a heinous animated video showing him killing a sitting congresswoman.

If it were up to Katko and Tenney, Gosar, who has planned fundraisers with prominent white nationalist leader Nick Fuentes and promoted “Anglo-Saxon” ideas alongside Marjorie Taylor Greene, would have been let off the hook for threatening to kill a colleague. Katko and Tenney’s cowardly votes today underscores who really runs the House Republican Conference — unhinged extremists like Gosar and Greene who face nothing but shrugs from Republican leadership in response to their violent rhetoric.

“The House GOP’s values are in the gutter and John Katko and Claudia Tenney just proved today that they are no exception,” said DCCC Spokesperson Abel Iraola. “Katko is running scared and sees the writing on the wall — in today’s GOP, extremism must be tolerated, and he’s all in on letting another member get away with directing death threats at a congressional colleague.”
