Katko said Trump had “a lot of good principles” (!)
In response to Congressman John Katko caving to pressure from Colleen Deacon regarding Trump’s unforgivable attacks on women and promotion of sexual assault, DCCC Spokesman Bryan Lesswing issued the following statement:
“For well over a year Congressman John Katko has paraded around as if he holds a shred of independence or moral conviction when it comes to standing up to Donald Trump. It’s always been a charade, and his response to Trump’s latest atrocity proved that it always will be. The truth is that Katko pledged to support the Republican nominee and even said that Trump had ‘a lot of good principles.’
Katko has refused to truly disavow Trump – not after Trump attacked a Gold Star family, insulting POWs, vowing to ban an entire religion from entering America, and now promoting sexual assault.
“It’s clear that John Katko is reading the polls and pledging allegiance to his party far more than he’s consulting his own conscience. There’s no question that Katko helped pave the way for Trump and history will judge him accordingly.”
Any objective follower of the presidential race knows that Congressman John Katko must recognize the binary choice in front of him: he can either continue supporting Trump or vote for Secretary Clinton. Anything less than voting for Clinton is helping Trump.
