Katko’s Ballot Box Dilemma: To Vote for Trump, Or Not?

Katko Says Americans Should Wait Until 2020 to Judge Trump, Won’t Say Who He’s Voting For

Yesterday, John Katko (unsurprisingly) toed the party line and voted against a measure to bring all the facts of Trump’s Ukraine scandal to voters in NY-24 through a transparent process. This key vote came nearly two weeks after Katko spent a weekend with Trump’s team refining GOP messaging on impeachment.

Attempting to explain his vote, Katko punted, saying that every American will have their “chance to render their judgment of the President” next November.

There’s one big problem with that explanation: a few months ago, the vulnerable Republican wouldn’t commit to voting for Trump, saying it was “too early” to make that kind of decision.

The people of New York’s 24th district shouldn’t have to wait a year to know where their representative stands on some of the most pressing issues of national security and on the head of his party.

So we have one question: John Katko, will you render your judgment of Trump by voting for or against him?

“Voters deserve to know how their representative feels about a president seeking help from foreign nations like Russia, China, and Ukraine,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “Katko must make it known, how will you render your judgment in 2020?”
