Congressman Tom Kean Jr. cast a politically toxic, deciding vote to gut Medicaid – and now he’s facing blowback from his own constituents.
Reporting from the New Jersey Hills Media Group highlights how Kean Jr. has faced repeated protests in his district, with up to 150 constituents turning out to voice their opposition after the congressman voted to rip away health care from New Jerseyans.
“The periodic protests — which began at Kean’s former office, in Bernardsville, Somerset County, and later were moved to his new office, in Lebanon, Hunterdon County — have drawn numbers of participants ranging from 25 to 150.”
When asked to respond to his constituents’ concerns, Kean Jr. doubled down on his support for Republicans’ Tax Scam legislation that makes the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Tom Kean Jr. cast the deciding vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history – and now his own constituents are making it clear that he sold them out and will lose his seat next November.” |
