Kean Jr. Kickoff With McCarthy Draws Ire From His Father’s Friends

“Irritated” Republicans in NJ Call McCarthy’s Invitation to Kean Jr. Kickoff “Outrageous”

Three-time federal office loser Tom Kean Jr. is already stumbling before his campaign kickoff.

Yesterday, InsiderNJ reported moderate Republicans and his father’s allies are “irritated” at the campaign’s decision to invite not-so-great GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy to Kean Jr’s kickoff, with a Kean Sr. ally reportedly calling the invitation “outrageous.”

DCCC Spokesperson James Singer

“Tom Kean Jr’s decision to launch his campaign with Kevin McCarthy isn’t just an embarrassment to his father’s allies and New Jersey moderates, it’s a clear indication that insider Kean Jr. will be in McCarthy’s pocket in Washington. This year under McCarthy’s leadership, House Republicans have opposed stimulus checks and small business relief, resisted two bipartisan investigations into the January 6th storming of the Capitol, and rallied against $12 billion in infrastructure investments in New Jersey – including funds to build the Gateway Tunnel. Silver-spoon Tom Kean Jr. is no moderate, he’s a failed candidate looking to become another right-wing crony for McCarthy.”
