Ken Calvert Stands In The Way Of Servicewomen Obtaining Critical Care

Calvert supports blocking access to abortion for service members

This week, Rep. Ken Calvert placed himself firmly in the way of efforts to protect the right to abortion for our servicewomen. Our women in uniform already face many hurdles to access critical reproductive care, including financing procedures out-of-pocket, travel costs, and approval from the chain of command. Calvert is eager to keep it that way.

This is far from the first time Calvert placed himself between women and their constitutional rights. His record is clear:

  • Calvert signed an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to overturn Roe and Casey.

  • Calvert voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act – which would codify Roe v. Wade.

  • Calvert voted against barring child rapists from being able to sue doctors who provided abortion care to a child incest victim.

  • Calvert voted against a bipartisan law to make it illegal to barricade an abortion clinic.

DCCC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy
“Ken Calvert’s complete lack of regard for women’s rights, including the women who are risking their lives to serve our country, is reprehensible. California voters will stand up to Calvert’s radical agenda and reject his brazen attempts to rip away women’s freedoms this November.”
