Kentucky Ranked #1 For Most Rural Hospitals At Risk of Closing Because of Republicans’ Tax Scam

35 hospitals in Kentucky may have to reduce services or close all together due to Republicans’ plans to cut Medicaid funding by $800 billion

A new report from the UNC Cecil G. Sheps Center revealed that Kentucky has the most rural hospitals at risk of closing in the country due to Republicans’ Big Bill for Billionaires.

In Kentucky’s hotly-contested 6th Congressional District alone there are 6 rural hospitals that may be forced to close, endangering the lives of every single Kentuckian who relies on these hospitals for health care. These communities will also lose desperately needed good-paying jobs as hospitals shut their doors.

Reminder: Last month, House Republicans voted to gut Medicaid funding by $800 billion – a plan that would decimate rural communities and kick over 26,000 people in KY-06 off their health care – all to pay for massive tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.

DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“House Republicans’ billionaire giveaway bill is a betrayal of every single rural Kentuckian who will lose their health care, lose their jobs, and potentially lose their lives so Republicans can give more money to their billionaire buddies. Kentuckians deserve better than this disgraceful self-serving act by House Republicans.”
