Kevin Coughlin and Mike Johnson Reveal Plan to Repeal CHIPS Act — Threatening Millions in Investments Rep. Sykes Secured

Last week, Speaker Mike Johnson revealed Kevin Coughlin and House Republicans’ plan to repeal the CHIPS and Science Act.

This announcement comes after Ohio’s 13th Congressional District was named a Sustainable Polymers Tech Hub. The designation, authorized by the CHIPS and Science Act, will transform Northeast Ohio into a global innovation center for polymer development, research, and sustainability.

Thanks to Rep. Sykes’ leadership, the Akron Tech Hub has already received $51 million which will help the United States compete with China and ensure OH-13 remains the Rubber Capital of the World.

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Just days out from Election Day, Kevin Coughlin and Mike Johnson said the quiet part out loud: they have never supported the historic legislation that’s creating good-paying jobs in Akron and Northeast Ohio, and they will work to reverse those investments if Coughlin is elected and Republicans maintain their House majority. Emilia Sykes was instrumental in securing vital investments for her district, and will continue to be a champion for job creation in Congress.”
