Congresswoman Jen Kiggans and 15 of her fake moderate colleagues in the Republican Conference are out with yet another meaningless letter – this time begging the Senate to scale back aggressive cuts to Medicaid. Yet this comes just weeks after she voted to enact the largest cut to Medicaid in American history.
Kiggans is hoping this letter will save her from backlash over voting to gut health care for millions of Americans, as the Senate considers lowering the provider tax on states — a move that would cause even more people to lose coverage.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the Kiggans-backed House-version of the GOP Tax Scam would result in 16 million people uninsured by gutting Medicaid and failing to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. In addition, nearly 24 million people will see their monthly health care costs increase and over 300 rural hospitals could close – including Southampton Memorial Hospital serving Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Enough with the meaningless letters. Congresswoman Kiggans already voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in American history – and when the time comes, she will cave to her D.C. party bosses once again to give her billionaire donors a massive tax break.”
