LaLota Donor Charged With Assaulting Police

LaLota’s criminal donor is the latest proof point in LaLota’s anti-police record

This week, Nick LaLota’s very own campaign donor was charged with assaulting law-enforcement officers during the far-right insurrection on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

LaLota’s $1,000 donation from this cop-attacker is just the latest addition to LaLota’s long record of severe anti-police sentiments.

REMINDER: As an Amityville budget officer, Nick LaLota tried to defund the police and even proposed abolishing the police department. According to the local police union, LaLota was “attacking” law enforcement, and “exploiting” the issue of police wages for his political gain.

LaLota was also apparently the “most dominant voice on police pay” and said police salaries were “an existential threat to the village” of Amityville. LaLota even championed a plan that violated the police union’s contract and stole $120,000 in overtime wages from police officers. The union also called LaLota out for understaffing the department to “its lowest levels since 1975.”

It’s no wonder local police refused to support his campaign for Congress.

DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre
“Nick LaLota failing to condemn a campaign donor who is charged with attacking Capitol law-enforcement officers is further proof that LaLota doesn’t truly value public safety and that local Long Island police were absolutely right in their decision to refuse backing him in his election.”
