Too Late for Scott Tipton to distance himself from Trump
Tipton has already said he will support Trump as the nominee
Republicans just woke up to a harsh reality: Donald Trump is the Republican Party’s nominee. There’s little doubt that the Republican Party is falling apart, and with it, Congressman Tipton’s reelection chances. As soon as former State Senator Gail Schwartz declared her candidacy, The Cook Political Report moved the race two spots from Solid Republican to Lean Republican.
Tipton has indicated that he will be supporting Trump when he officially wins the nomination.
“After failing to disavow Donald Trump’s vile rhetoric and dangerous positions and pledging to support the nominee, Congressman Tipton will have to face the consequences of sharing a ballot with Trump,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law.
