Boebert accused of illegal spending on voter turnout efforts in race she won by 546 votes
Vulnerable Rep. Lauren Boebert is accused of violating campaign finance law, allegedly spending $60,000 and then reporting the spending as “‘get out the vote’ contact calls and texts” on Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings without listing whether the spending was an in-kind contribution or describing who the support was intended for.
According to a recent complaint, using her leadership PAC, Boebert illegally made an in-kind contribution in the home stretch of her campaign “that exceeds the $5,000 limit set by federal law, or spent money to influence [her own campaign or] another campaign without reporting it, as required by federal law.”
The complaint urges the FEC to launch an official investigation into Boebert’s scheme. Read more about the complaint here.
DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Lauren Boebert is allegedly using her campaign accounts as a personal slush fund or spending money to influence elections without accurately reporting it. Colorado voters deserve transparent leaders who will follow and uphold the law, not self-serving extremists like Lauren Boebert who is more concerned with barnstorming the country to catch headlines instead of working to deliver for everyday Coloradans.”
