Lawler Dismisses Trump’s Hateful Rhetoric (Again)

Lawler served as a delegate for and worked to elect Trump in 2016 and 2020

Mike Lawler once again dismissed four-time indicted, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s hateful and dangerous rhetoric on State of the Union with Dana Bash this past weekend.

In the past couple weeks alone, Lawler has repeatedly refused to condemn Trump for saluting convicted January 6 insurrectionists and declaring there would be a “bloodbath” if he lost the election.

Lawler – who has publicly backed a virulent antisemite for county legislator – has also yet to speak out against Trump’s attacks on Jewish Americans during a time of heightened antisemitism despite representing one of the largest Jewish constituencies in the country. Reportedly, Lawler “offered only a dismissive wave of his hand” when asked about Trump’s antisemitic comments.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Just like he did in 2016 and 2020, Mike Lawler is standing by Donald Trump’s disturbing threats of political violence and hateful rhetoric. Lawler’s complicity is failing families across New York’s 17th District.”
