Last week, Mike Lawler joined 15 other so-called moderate House Republicans in writing a “letter” to his D.C. Party Bosses shamelessly proclaiming he would not support a bill that makes even deeper cuts to Medicaid than what he already voted for the first time around (which, to be clear, are already devastating cuts).
Now, Lawler’s moment of truth is upon him. The latest Big, Ugly Bill would result in at least 17 million Americans losing their health care — including 1.5 million New Yorkers and over 32,000 constituents in NY-17 alone.
So here’s a simple question: Does Mike Lawler plan to go back on his word AGAIN and vote to rip health care away from another 1 million Americans?
Reminder: Lawler repeatedly promised his constituents that he wouldn’t support any legislation that included Medicaid cuts. Then he lied for months that the House-version of the bill would “protect” and “strengthen” Medicaid and food assistance. He even tried to claim that the bill enacting the largest Medicaid cut in history was “not a major cut.”
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Is Mike Lawler a liar, a coward, or does he just think New Yorkers are too dumb to see through his betrayal? Chances are, it’s all three.”
