LAWLER’S SNAP CUTS HIT HOME: Hundreds of Hudson Valley Families Lose Food Assistance [Lohud]

Rockland families are among the first to feel the impacts after Mike Lawler’s cruel vote to gut SNAP

New reporting from Lohud today confirms what Hudson Valley food banks, local leaders have been warning for over a yearMike Lawler’s cowardly vote for the Big, Ugly Bill is ripping food off the tables of his own constituents.

Roughly 220,000 New Yorkers have lost SNAP benefits since Lawler and House Republicans passed the Big, Ugly Bill — including 419 SNAP recipients in Rockland County — many of which are children, seniors and people with disabilities.

With hundreds of his own constituents losing food assistance, Lawler’s campaign is doubling down, calling the devastating cuts “common sense and fair reforms” — a message Hudson Valley families struggling with grocery prices are unlikely to find reassuring.

REMINDER: Last week, the DCCC launched a mobile billboard campaign holding Mike Lawler accountable for his cruel cuts to food aid, featuring images of empty plates with two messages: “Mike Lawler voted for $187 billion in SNAP cuts”; and “Mike Lawler is taking food off your plate.”

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler promised to lower costs for Hudson Valley families. Instead, he voted to rip food off their dinner tables to give more tax breaks to his billionaire donors. Voters will hold MAGA Lapdog Lawler accountable for his betrayal in November.”
