Leavitt, Mowers, Huff Brown & Baxter Remain Silent as Republican Leaders Push Raising Taxes on Millions of Seniors and Low-Income Americans

GOP announces agenda that “calls for new taxes on tens of millions of Americans”

Last week, Republicans in Washington announced their plan for America: raising taxes on millions of Social Security recipients and low-income Americans.

A non-partisan analysis of the GOP plan to raise taxes on roughly 100 million Americans found:

  • Middle-income households would pay an average of $450 more in taxes.

  • Americans would pay more than $100 billion in federal income taxes in 2022 alone.

  • More than 80 percent of the tax increase would be paid by households making about $54,000 or less, and 97 percent would be paid by those making less than about $100,000.

Now, Republicans are doubling down, proudly proclaiming, “Republicans don’t deserve to govern unless we’re willing to take on the real problems America faces.”

We can agree on the first part of that sentence, Republicans don’t deserve to govern.

DCCC spokesperson James Singer:
“Tim Baxter, Gail Huff Brown, Karoline Leavitt, and Matt Mowers have remained silent as GOP leaders in Washington push tax increases on nearly 100 million seniors, working families, and low-income Americans.”
