Liar, Liar, Juan Ciscomani Is Under Fire

Recapping Ciscomani’s disastrous interview with Arizona’s Family

Once again, Juan Ciscomani was caught misleading Arizonans about his extreme record in Congress – from restricting abortion care to cutting funding for local police departments.

During a recent interview with Arizona’s Family Politics Unplugged podcast, Ciscomani (again) said he believed abortion is a “state issue” – despite repeatedly voting for new federal abortion restrictions

  • As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Ciscomani voted to prohibit mail delivery and retail pharmacy sale of abortion medication mifepristone as part of a government funding bill.
  • Ciscomani voted to restrict servicemembers and their families from receiving reproductive health care.
  • Ciscomani is a co-sponsor of H.R. 7 – an anti-abortion bill that would restrict the Department of Veterans Affairs from providing reproductive health care to Arizona’s veterans and expand restrictions to Arizonans who buy ACA private insurance that covers abortion.

Ciscomani was also asked about his vote for the extreme MAGA Continuing Resolution, which would make disastrous 30% cuts to critical agencies that keep Arizonans safe, secure, and healthy – including over $400 million in cuts to local law enforcement.

“Well, first of all, the cuts to law enforcement, that wasn’t in there, that was something else,” Ciscomani told Arizona’s Family

In a pattern that is becoming more and more familiar, Ciscomani has repeatedly misled Arizonans about his record in Congress.

DCCC spokesperson Justin Chermol:

“Juan Ciscomani continues to misinform Arizonans about his voting record because he knows he cannot possibly defend cutting local police funding and dangerously restricting abortion care.”
