It’s been a very tough week for House Republicans.
Between fundraising woes, races moving away from them, and the Trump campaign and RNC abandoning House Republicans, this week has been particularly brutal for our friends on 1st street.
Trump and the RNC are telegraphing a lack of confidence in retaking the House…and House Republicans have noticed.
“Senior House Republicans are pleading with the deep-pocketed Republican National Committee and the Trump campaign to provide financial help as Democrats vastly outraise the GOP, but top campaign officials are so far declining to commit.

While the Trump campaign and the RNC have brought in record amounts of money, some Trump officials see donating to the House as a wasteful investment as the GOP’s chances of reclaiming the majority sharply deteriorate.

House Republicans originally believed they could win back a large number of the 31 Democratic seats in districts Trump carried in 2016, but now the NRCC’s top Democratic targets are sitting on million-dollar accounts, making them difficult to unseat. In fact, the DCCC’s 42 most-vulnerable front-line members have an average 5-to-1 cash advantage over their GOP opponents. Additionally, 30 Democratic challengers outraised their Republican foes in the second quarter of 2020, putting the party in a prime position to grow their ranks in the House.”

Republican fundraising woes put House Dems even further on offense
“The DCCC raised $17 million in June, capping a second-quarter fundraising period in which the House Democratic campaign arm collected $39.3 million and boosted an existing cash lead over the NRCC. The House Republican campaign arm raised a healthy $13.6 million in June. But the NRCC’s overall fundraising for April, May, and June, $35.5 million, fell short of the DCCC’s total.…
A spokesman for the NRCC did not respond to request for comment Tuesday morning.”
