“LIKE PRESIDENTIAL NUMBERS”: Early Voting Surges Across New York As Democrats Gain Ground

With less than a week until Election Day, New Yorkers are turning out in force, and House Republicans are worried. New reporting from the Times Union finds that roughly 485,200 New Yorkers voted in the opening weekend of early voting, an 85% increase from 2022.

All 62 counties in the Empire State saw more early voters, but the biggest jumps came in counties with competitive House races, including NY-17 and NY-21. County election officials also say more enrolled Democrats have voted than Republicans.

A local commissioner said “it’s been like presidential numbers, quite frankly,” with one GOP chairman admitting that “everybody’s going out because of the economy.”

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Even Republicans admit it: New Yorkers are heading to the polls because they’re fed up with rising costs. House Republicans made life more expensive for working families, and now New York voters are turning out to hold them accountable.”
