| This summer, House Republicans – including the so-called moderates – voted to enact a $187 billion cut to SNAP – representing the largest cut to food assistance programs in American history in order to reward their billionaire donors with permanent tax breaks.
According to the nonpartisan CBO, about 4 million people, including children, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities, will see the food assistance they need to afford groceries terminated or cut substantially as a result of the Big, Ugly Law.
Now, Republicans are allowing over 40 million Americans to lose access to their food benefits as a result of the shutdown they started.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Good idea, Rep. McClain! The American people should know that House Republicans voted for the largest cut to food assistance in American history.” |
