Lobbyist Claire Chase Trips Out of the Gate to Join Crowded NM-02 GOP Primary

After years of lobbying in Santa Fe, Chase faces an uphill battle against 2018 nominee and GOP frontrunner Yvette Herrell

She hasn’t officially announced it yet, but longtime lobbyist Claire Chase is running for New Mexico’s 2nd District – as best we can tell from a new campaign website littered with broken links that appeared this morning to no fanfare.

As a candidate, Chase is poised to run on bringing her record of looking out for the wealthy and well-connected to the Washington swamp already brimming with special interests and insiders. The lobbyist may be expecting her special interest friends to anoint her the Republican candidate, but she faces a messy primary against the 2018 GOP nominee Yvette Herrell, who has already earned early significant support from the same Washington Republicans who backed her 2018 bid.

“Southern New Mexico families are facing real challenges like rising health care costs, stagnant wages, and a broken education system – the last thing they need is a lobbyist like Claire Chase putting her special interest cronies ahead of working New Mexicans in Washington,” said DCCC Spokesperson Brooke Goren.
