While Texas families grapple with record-high cost of groceries increasing the price of their 4th of July celebrations by nearly 10%, Monica De La Cruz and her fellow House Republicans are getting a head start today on their taxpayer funded vacations, complete with “big lobster tails” and “nice ribeyes.”
De La Cruz and House Republicans are skipping town and leaving work early after failing to address skyrocketing gas prices across the country. In the Rio Grande Valley, gas is still nearly 60¢ more expensive per gallon than at the beginning of the year.
Still, De La Cruz and her fellow House Republicans are “okay with the increase in fuel [prices]” and living the good life on their taxpayer funded salaries because “60% of Americans don’t work as hard” as they do.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“While Monica De La Cruz and her fellow House Republicans are daydreaming about their luxurious vacations, Texas families are worrying about how to put food on the table and fill up their gas tank to get to work in the morning. De La Cruz is enjoying her undeserved vacation while she can because she knows that South Texas voters are going to vote her out and send Bobby Pulido to Congress this November.”
