Local, State, National Republicans Dump Ted Howze – But Some Hold Out Support – Do They Share Ted’s Racists Beliefs?

Holdout Howze Supporters Include CA-10’s Failed Former GOP Congressman Jeff Denham

It’s been a long weekend, so let’s recap the GOP mess in California’s 10th District – shall we?

Ted Howze’s imploding campaign lost even more support over Memorial Day Weekend. Following weeks of reporting on Congressional GOP Candidate Ted Howze’s toxic, racist, conspiratorial social media posts, the National Republican Congressional Committee, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the California Republican Party and many local officials have all finally rescinded their endorsements of Ted Howze. And the NAACP called for him to drop out of the race. But some local leaders are sticking by Ted – even despite his racist hateful comments.

Their failure of leadership could come back to haunt them in future races – especially as more Californians make the Central Valley their home.

These officials’ constituents are curious if their mayor or councilmember supports Howze’s view that Dreamers are pedophiles and Muslims cannot be good American citizens. They deserve an answer.

Ted Howze deleted the endorsement page on his website, but as he has recently learned – once something is on the internet, it doesn’t go away. The following officials have failed to make a statement officially revoking their endorsements of racist, failing candidate Ted Howze.

  • Jeff Denham, CA-10 Representative (ret.)
  • Tom Patti, Supervisor, San Joaquin County
  • Ted Brandvold, Mayor, City of Modesto
  • Robert Rickman, Mayor, City of Tracy
  • Amy Bublak, Mayor, City of Turlock
  • Benjamin Cantu, Mayor, City of Manteca
  • Robert “Bob” Martina, Mayor, City of Newman
  • R. McCarty, Mayor, City of Oakdale
  • Chris Vierra, Mayor, City of Ceres
  • Mike Van Winkle, Mayor, City of Waterford
  • Bill Zoslocki, Councilmember, City of Modesto
  • Dominic Farinha, Councilmember, City of Patterson
  • Antonio Aguilar, Trustee, Yosemite Community College District
  • Paul Campbell, President, Modesto Irrigation District
  • Jeffrey Cortinas, Trustee, Turlock Unified School District
  • Vernon Gebhardt, Trustee, San Joaquin County BOE
  • Wesley Greene, Vice President, Keyes Union School District
  • Stephen Schluer, President, Manteca Unified School District
  • John Walker, President, Modesto City Schools Board of Education
  • Paul Wallace, Trustee, Newman Crows Landing USD
  • Dean Riddle, Trustee, Monterey Park Tract CSD

Statement from DCCC Spokesperson Andy Orellana

“Central Valley residents deserve to know if their local officials still support Ted’s racist, failing campaign. Many local officials have had the decency and good sense to leave Howze and his terrible ideas in the past – those who haven’t should be asked why.”
