With only two days left before a MAGA manufactured shutdown, House Republicans ignored calls to keep the government running and instead pushed a dangerous bill last night that attacked women’s reproductive freedom and slashed nutrition assistance working families depend on.
In addition to massive cuts to nutrition assistance programs and a disgusting effort to discriminate against LGBTQ+ Americans, the centerpiece of the legislation is new nationwide restrictions on the safe, legal abortion medication mifepristone.
REMINDER: Recently, the chair of the GOP Conference reiterated the Republican plot to enact a nationwide abortion ban – asserting Republicans “will get [it] done.”
Instead of working in a bipartisan way to invest in America and avert a devastating shutdown, House Republicans have decided to pursue their extreme MAGA agenda to restrict access to reproductive care nationwide.

“Extreme Republicans continue to be obsessed with chipping away at reproductive freedom no matter what – even if they have to shut down the government to do it. The public wants responsible governance, not MAGA brinkmanship at the expense of the middle class.”
