MAGA Mike Attempts to Rewrite History

In a new op-ed, former Big Oil lobbyist and increasingly vulnerable freshman Rep. Mike Lawler desperately attempts to rewrite history on his dangerous vote for the Freedom Caucus-sponsored Default on America Act.

Lawler points to several claims made by issue advocacy groups and his own constituents who voiced concerns about his vote for the Default on America Act.

The claims Lawler mentions in his editorial that he says are false, include:

• “Mike Lawler will cut Social Security and Medicare”

• “MAGA Mike will slash veterans services”

• “When we default, the world’s economy will go tumbling off a cliff”

But Lawler is mistaken. All claims made by his constituents are verified:

While Lawler attempts to depict himself as a bipartisan lawmaker, his record is much more extreme than he wants voters to realize. Lawler votes with extreme conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene 86% of the time, and fellow New York extremist Elise Stefanik, who recently proposed a plan for a nationwide abortion ban, 95% of the time.
