This week, vulnerable Republican Nicole Malliotakis tried to dodge questions asking her to share her thoughts on overturning Roe v. Wade, lazily stating “this is a decision for the courts not politicians” — but it just goes to show how out-of-touch she is with voters back home and around the country.
Despite 80% of Americans overwhelmingly support access to safe, legal abortion and 70% of people wanting to keep Roe intact, Career Politician Nicole Malliotakis has consistently voted against protecting abortion rights.
-
In Congress, Malliotakis voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act, to protect abortion and reproductive health care, and even went out of her way to call the bill “barbaric.”
-
In the New York State Assembly, Malliotakis repeatedly voted against New York State’s Reproductive Health Act, which codified Roe v. Wade into New York State law.
-
As the threat to reproductive rights became more apparent, Malliotakis tried to downplay the threat, writing an op-ed that claimed Roe v. Wade was not at risk, and accused Democrats of using the issue as a “political bogeyman.”
Malliotakis didn’t abstain from these votes and she has made her position clear — she is behind the Republicans’ crusade to rip away a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions.
DCCC spokesperson Abel Iraola:
“Nicole Malliotakis’ crusade against reproductive rights is clear. It doesn’t matter how hard Malliotakis tries to deflect, voters will hold her accountable for her extreme record and vote her out come November.”
