Fresh off walking back a doomed second gubernatorial run, Marc Molinaro has decided to try and take his pay-to-play roadshow to Congress.
On Friday, Molinaro filed to challenge Congressman Antonio Delgado for New York’s 19th Congressional District.
How Molinaro intends to win a district he is totally out of touch with remains a mystery. Throughout his time as a career politician, Molinaro has consistently peddled millions of dollars in government contracts to his campaign donors.
As he shuffled from one office to the next since 1994, Molinaro has used his position to steer taxpayer money and pricey contracts to his campaign contributors.
Under Marc Molinaro’s “leadership” donors to his campaigns have collectively received over $89 million in Dutchess County contracts, including sending $34 million to 20 companies located outside of Dutchess County.
Per the Poughkeepsie Journal, these include:
-
$70,000 in tax breaks for the architecture firm Tinkelman Brothers, which donated to Molinaro
-
$109,000 in county contracts for Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, an international law firm in San Francisco that donated to Molinaro
-
$20,000 in county contracts for Park Strategies, a consulting firm in DC and New York which donated to Molinaro
-
And over $169,000 in Dutchess County contracts for Birdsall Services Group, an engineering firm that donated $11,350 to Molinaro (and don’t miss this: eight BSG officials pleaded guilty to a massive pay-for-play scheme in New Jersey)
And in typical corrupt Molinaro fashion, he opposed county campaign finance laws that would have prevented him from taking contributions from county contractors.
Statement from DCCC Spokesperson Abel Iraola
“The last thing Upstate New York needs is another corrupt pay-to-play politician like Marc Molinaro, whose priority is enriching his donors and special interests instead of helping families and working people.”
