Salazar voted to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas despite Miami-based Cuban Americans asking her not to
María Elvira Salazar seems to be forgetting everything lately.
In January, it was ‘forgetting’ her votes against key bills that are funding local Miami projects she’s taking credit for. Yesterday, Salazar must have forgotten that she told The Washington Post that impeaching Alejandro Mayorkas wouldn’t “do anything.”
“What does impeaching Mayorkas, what does that do to stop the flow, stop people gaming the system, stop the child sex traffickers, the terrorists, the coyotes, people going through Central America to get to Texas? That doesn’t do anything.”
Cue Salazar’s vote last night where she *checks notes* voted to impeach Secretary Mayorkas.
Salazar’s tired excuse of forgetting her own words and actions can’t get her out of the hot seat this time. Just two weeks ago, Miami-based Cuban Americans authored a letter urging House Members to “put aside political stunts like impeachment.” Salazar’s vote directly contradicts the clear and explicit ask from voters she’s supposed to represent.
DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“María Elvira Salazar is a fickle politician who says one thing to voters, then does the opposite in Congress. She doesn’t care about where South Miami residents stand – Salazar will side with her extremist colleagues and play partisan politics every chance she gets.”
