Maria Elvira Salazar Votes Against Protecting Same-Sex And Interracial Marriage

Salazar changes YES vote to NO, now that election has passed

Today, the House passed the Respect for Marriage Act – sending a bill that protects marriage equality and ensures legal same-sex and interracial marriages are recognized to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law. Maria Elvira Salazar voted NO.

In July, Salazar voted in favor of the bill but now that her competitive election has passed, she is showing her true colors and voted against protecting people’s individual liberties and rights.

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Maria Elvira Salazar’s vote change shows Floridians that she is willing to say and do anything to get elected. Salazar’s shameless vote against the Respect for Marriage Act sends a clear message that she doesn’t believe people’s right to marry whomever they love should be protected.”
