Mariannette Miller-Meeks Failed to Disclose Pharma Lobbyist Living Arrangement to Iowans. What Is Miller-Meeks Hiding?

It’s been a week since reporting uncovered that Mariannette Miller-Meeks rented a condo in Washington, D.C. from two pharma lobbyists who’ve made millions lobbying for the pharmaceutical industry while renting to their puppet in Congress.

Questions continue to swirl as Miller-Meeks refuses to disclose the terms of her lease and reporting suggests this arrangement “raises questions about Miller-Meeks’ judgment because she sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health and chairs the Veterans’ Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Health.”

Questions Miller-Meeks must answer to Iowans after hiding her lobbyist living arrangement:

  1. Why do you refuse to disclose your lease? Do you not think Iowans deserve to see clearly if you were paying rent to pharmaceutical lobbyists at fair market value?
  2. Did you ever share or receive any insider information as a result of your relationship with your lobbyist landlords?
  3. Did your lobbyist landlords ever give you any special privileges or sweetheart deals as a result of your position in Congress?
  4. Did your lobbyist landlords introduce you to other lobbyists, or host any fundraisers or events benefitting your campaign?
  5. Did your lobbyist landlords influence your decision to vote against bills that reduced drug prices?
  6. Were you ever lobbied by another registered lobbyist working on behalf of PhRMA – in other words, an associate of your landlords?
  7. Why was the lease with your lobbyist landlords terminated?

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks must disclose the circumstances of her shady pharma lobbyist living arrangement to the Iowans she’s supposed to represent. Instead, she cashes pharma lobbyist checks after voting to sell Iowans out to the special interests and is a puppet for Big Pharma. What is Miller-Meeks hiding?”
