Mariannette Miller-Meeks Lies About Working to Lower Rx Drug Prices, After Opposing Effort to Lower Costs for Seniors

Mariannette Miller-Meeks was just caught red handed trying to rewrite her record of siding against Iowa seniors. This weekend on Iowa Press, Miller-Meeks falsely claimed that she was “still working” on “lowering prescription drug prices.”

But the truth is, just weeks ago Miller-Meeks announced she opposed allowing Medicare to negotiate to lower prescription drug prices – a key measure being led by House Democrats to lower costs for seniors which is supported by 90% of Iowans in her current district. Miller-Meeks’ deceptive revisionist history also comes as earlier this month she voted against funding for Medicare threatening critical rural health care services that Iowa seniors depend on.

“Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ shameless lie that she supports lowering prescription drug prices rings hollow as she repeatedly sides with her pharmaceutical industry backers over Iowa seniors,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Miller-Meeks owes Iowans answers on why she votes with her party bosses and special interest cronies in Washington, but tries to cover up her record of opposing measures to lower prescription drug prices when she’s back home.”
